Division of Zoning

The Zoning Office is responsible for examining working plans of proposed structures for compliance with state, county and local zoning laws, ordinances, rules and regulations. In addition, the Zoning Office performs all appropriate functions associated with:

  • Reviewing and processing zoning permits
  • Conducting field inspections to ensure compliance with zoning regulations and initiating appropriate enforcement actions against violators

Zoning approval is required for patios, swimming pools, decks, sheds, fences, additions, driveway additions etc. If you ever have a question about whether your proposed project requires zoning approval, please contact the Zoning Officer.

Examples of projects requiring a zoning permit include but are not limited to:
  • Business signs
  • Decks
  • Expansion or Paving of Parking/Driveway Areas
  • Gazebos
  • Generator
  • New building
  • Patios
  • Porches (covered or open)
  • Sheds and Garages
  • Solar panels
  • Swimming pools
  • Dwellings and Additions
  • Fences and Retaining Walls
  • Pools and Pool Houses
  • Some Interior Renovations, such as Finished Basements
