Division of Fire Prevention

Under the guidance of the Fire Official, the Division of Fire Prevention is responsible for inspecting all commercial occupancies to ensure compliance with the regulations of the New Jersey Uniform Fire Code within the City. In addition, the Division of Fire Prevention performs all appropriate functions associated with:
  • Issuance of Fire Permits
  • Advising Administration and Council concerning Fire Prevention
  • Operation of smoke detector program for low income and senior housing
  • Examination of new construction projects for Construction Division
  • Inspection of all City businesses, rooming and boarding houses
  • Investigation of all fires and explosions within City
