Common Council

The City of Burlington operates in accordance with the Mayor-Council form of government, as authorized in the Optional Municipal Charter Law (NJSA 40:69A). The Mayor is the chief executive of the municipality, while the legislative powers of the City are exercised by the Common Council. The Common Council consists of seven (7) members: three at-large Councilpersons and one from each of the four (4) wards, who shall serve for a term of four (4) years.

Public meetings

The City of Burlington Meetings of the Common Council are held at 7:00pm in the Council Chambers of City Hall located at 525 High Street, Burlington, NJ 08016.  All interested individuals are invited to attend and comment. Anyone in need of special accommodations or access due to disability, should contact the Office of the Municipal Clerk at 609-386- 0200 ext. 101 or 102, prior to the meeting.

Regular Meetings are held on the 1st & 3rd Tuesdays of each month. Work Sessions are held on the 2nd Tuesday of each month, except August, November, and December.
