Information on New Opportunity ZoneDraft OZ Strategic Plan
City of Burlington, NJ
Public Meeting Notice
Opportunity Zone Program
On September 24, 2019, the City of Burlington hosted a public meeting that provided information on the new Opportunity Zone Program to almost 100 participants. We would like to thank the participants who attended the meeting, and continue to offer others the chance to review the Draft Plan (link below) and contact Housing & Community Development Director William Harris directly with further questions and comments. He can be reached at WHarris@bulingtonnj.us or 609.386.0200 x130. All of these comment will help the City and Triad Associates create a refined Final Opportunity Zone Strategic Plan in which seven potential project sites and development concepts have been identified. That Final Plan will be available within the next several weeks.
The City has the recent distinction of being one of only 75 municipalities in New Jersey receiving Federal Opportunity Zone Status. The Burlington Opportunity Zone is bounded by High Street to the south, U.S. Route 130 to the east, Assiscunk Creek to the north, and the Delaware River to the west.
This unique designation provides a new program and catalyst for the investment of private capital in eligible projects from a range of potential corporate and business interests. The deadline to invest in this program is December 31, 2019.
Your continued participation is welcome and encouraged.
Barry W. Conaway, Mayor
