What is the Business Consulting for COVID-19 Program?

The NJEDA is providing free consulting to help small and micro businesses in communities that have been hardest hit by the COVID-19 pandemic. Through this program, these businesses will receive expert advisory services and staff support to assist them in securing grants and loans and overcoming their current challenges, adapting, and preparing for long-term success after the pandemic ends.

How will the NJEDA help my business?

The NJEDA is partnering with consulting firms that specialize in working with small businesses to provide up to 25 hours of free, one-on-one coaching and support implementing solutions to help make business more profitable while complying with public health protections the State has instituted to slow the spread of COVID-19.

Participating businesses will receive advice and assistance in securing grants and loans, adapting their business models to current needs, crafting long-term business strategies, evaluating financial health, and improving accounting and bookkeeping systems, as well as many other topics that can help them build a stronger, more sustainable business.

What businesses are eligible for the program?

To qualify for the program a business must meet the following three requirements:

  1. Employ five or fewer employees

  2. Maintain a physical storefront or office

How do I sign up?

Businesses interested in this opportunity should complete the brief intake form at Applicants will be connected with consultants on a first-come, first-served basis, so any interested business should complete the form as soon as possible. After submitting the form, an NJEDA representative will be in touch to provide more information on the next steps in the sign-up process.

What other resources are available for me as a small business owner?

The NJEDA is also offering free e-commerce and web design services to New Jersey-based restaurants, retailers, and personal care businesses (e.g., barber shops, nail salons). This program is open to businesses of all sizes located anywhere in the state (not restricted to Opportunity Zones).
